The Built Environment
World-class mental health facilities to support the care of children and young people with mental health problems and mental disorders.
The purpose of work package 7 is to create innovative and tailored physical environments that support the treatment of children and adolescents across municipalities and regions.
The physical environments contribute to the sense of continuity across different sectors, thereby ensuring that children, adolescents, and families experience familiarity in the physical settings across municipalities and regions.
The improvements of the physical environment are based on evidence-based design principles, including a homely atmosphere, nature, light, art, and play in the layout of care facilities both municipal and regional, along with how this supports the treatment of children and young people with mental health problems and mental disorders.
This will be part of the physical environment in the construction of the new psychiatric hospital in Aalborg, Psykiatrien - Nyt Aalborg Universitetshospital (PNAU) where the current Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the North Denmark Region will move in 2026.
